Most depressing comment ever heard on an elevator:

Conversation between resident and medical student (who I remember from her rotation on our service):

R: How are your kids?
MS: Not good. My husband decided that Valentine's Day would be a good day to leave us.

Pause.

R: God. I'm so sorry.

Poor resident. He didn't even remember her name.
