Athalete, artic, heighth...man, it's scary how many of these were taught to me by my elementary school teachers.
My second grade teacher read us a story about Roald Amundsen, the first man to reach the south pole, but she kept pronouncing it as "Ronald." I was following along in my book, and later I asked her why she was saying it like that.
Her response was that "the kids have never heard the name Roald." Because the last thing a teacher wants to do is teach kids about something they don't know.
I'm an opera singer and SAHM. I live in Seattle with my husband Christian and daughter Viv, where we have a little red house which we share with two snakes, two box turtles, three parrots and all of my neuroses and allergies. God, we're going to be devoured by our pets.

I'm feeling especially vindicated with sherbet and herbs. Thanks for making my day with this lovely link.
